Newsletter 18th November 2022

Dear parents and carers,

Happy Friday everyone…I hope this letter finds you all well. What can we say about the weather this week! Please can you make sure your child has a waterproof coat and some sturdy waterproof shoes so they can still play out (when the rain has stopped!).

So we have started the run up to Christmas in school and we are already eagerly preparing our nativity concerts for you to enjoy! There will be a reminder of Christmas dates later on this letter.

Afternoon tea with Santa (For reception, Year 1 and Year 2)

We know how expensive it is to see Santa nowadays and how booked up these sessions can be so we wanted to plan something affordable for our families. The CRC and I have planned afternoon tea with the big guy in red (Santa) This will take place at 3.15pm on the 7th and 14th December. Parents are invited to come with their child to the school hall for a small afternoon tea (for the children) opportunity to meet Santa and as if it cannot be any better all children receive a small gift. The cost of a ticket is £3 and that admits 1 child and one adult to the event. The event is pre-bookable. All you need to do is fill in the form at the bottom of the paper version of this newsletter and return this to school. Your name will be added to the guest list and we will look forward to greeting you on the 7th/14th December. Please make sure all monies are sent with slips and are in a named bag/envelope to avoid confusion.

Storytime with Santa (For nursery)

For nursery pupils we will be having a cosy storytime session with Santa which will take place in the school library. This event will take place on Thursday 8th December 11.30am for morning pupils and 3.15pm for afternoon pupils. The session will cost £1.50 and includes a story with Santa and a small gift. Again the event is pre-bookable. All you need to do is fill in the form at the bottom of the paper version of this newsletter and return this to school. Your name will be added to the guest list and we will look forward to greeting you on the 8th December. Please make sure all monies are sent with slips and are in a named bag/envelope to avoid confusion.

Christmas Fayre,Toy tombola & Non Uniform Day

On Thursday 15th December we will be having our first Christmas Fayre hosted by the CRC. This will take place in the school hall after school, please pop along for some festive fun!
Next Friday we are inviting all children to bring an unwanted/old toy in to school from home for our ‘toy tombola’ it’s a great reason to have a good clear out at home before the big day! Next Friday children can come in NON UNIFORM with a toy donation for the fayre. The CRC will be under the entrance canopy on Friday morning collecting donations.

Thank you to everyone who entered our Halloween hat competition and joined us for our bonfire night chocolate apple dipping sessions. We hope you enjoyed these. I would like to thank our local Farm Shop who donated all the apples for our event. On behalf of the school community thank you for your generosity.

All monies raised at these events goes back to Common Road School to fund further events/resources for our children.
